IDE-2024 Introduction to Deaf Education
This course provides students with the basic knowledge Deaf Education, Deaf culture, and the basics of American Sign Language (ASL). Students will analyze prevalent myths related to Deaf and other hearing impaired people as well as the cultural impacts of being Deaf. Information discussed in this course is designed to help DHI students in regards to education, culture, and linguistic needs by educating teachers on how to identify and cater to their specific needs.

WELCOME TO ADOLESCENT LITERATURE!
We're thrilled to have you in this course, where we’ll explore the exciting and diverse world of literature written for and about adolescents. We hope that by the end of this course, a love for young adult books will be ignited, and a deeper understanding of how the themes, characters, and stories shape the experiences of young readers achieved.
Throughout this course, we’ll dive into various genres, discussing how literature reflects the challenges, triumphs, and transformations that occur during adolescence. We’ll also examine the cultural, social, and psychological factors that influence these stories and how they resonate with adolescents from diverse backgrounds.
This is a collaborative space for us to think critically, share ideas, and engage in thoughtful discussions. Your perspectives are important, and we encourage you to ask questions, share your thoughts, and reflect on how these texts relate to the world around us.

Welcome to PPE 121: Fitness Methods (Secondary TVET Majors)
Hello Teacher Candidates!
Welcome to the course Fitness Methods (PPE 121) and has been designed for all YEAR ONE (1) SEMESTER TWO (2) teacher candidates.
This course comprises nine (9) units and will be completed in twelve (12) weeks of instruction using the face-to-face mode of delivery from January 29th – April 26th 2024, for this semester Two, (1) week for semester break one (1) week for mid semester quiz and one (1) week for examinations. This course is examinable thus, you are required to complete your examination in the week of April 29th, 2024.
NOTE: you are required to attend all sessions at your respective centers with the appointed tutor.
The course and the material are organized per Unit. Each
unit’s section includes a document to read with the task for that week,
additional readings required, and materials are on the platform under heading
course information. It is most important to participate in class discussions,
and all practical sessions, exchange ideas, and ask questions within the weekly
class meetings.
Important Note: you are required to attend all Face-to-Face sessions. These sessions will be conducted by the lecturer from the respective Centre.
This course is intended to expose participants to the various methods needed to develop fitness in athletes and recreationists at all levels. It also opens the door to effective wellness management. Finally, the course seeks to develop the skills needed by teachers to educate the wider public about the importance of, and how to develop healthy lifestyles.
Objectives
At the end of this course, participants should:
1. Define Physical Fitness and identify hypokinetic diseases.
2. Explain the importance of the Warm-up and cool down in relation to physical activities.
3. Identify and explain the components of fitness and skill related fitness.
4. Outline the purpose for testing and execute anthropometric testing.
5. Explain and apply the principles of an exercise programme design.
6. Apply the basic elements of exercise prescriptions.
7. Identify the different stages of progression and when to apply them.
8. Explain aging in relation to physical fitness activities.
9. Prescribe activities for the different groups.
