Greetings Teacher Candidates!

If you have chosen this Programme for your 2 years at CPCE, we would like to let you know that you have made an excellent decision. Allow me, then, to add my welcome to the expressions from Mr. Keon Cheong, who is the ACEO (SEND) and the developer of this programme.

It should be noted that this programme is indeed 'special' for a few reasons. In the region, Guyana is the first country to have developed such a programme. It is designed for teachers in both Special and Mainstream schools. This programme fulfills the promise made by the Honourable Minister of Education in 2022, to provide access to teachers to be properly trained in identifying, preparing for and teaching learners with special educational needs. It harmonizes with the Ministry's drive to have, at each school, at least one teacher who has a SEND focus, and can therefore be in a position to teach others how to work with these learners.

And so you have made a very important decision at this period in the country's educational transformation. Do not lose sight of this! It is important that you understand that this programme is different from the Associate Degree in General Education and does not follow the same flow. Focus on what you are required to do at this time.

On the platform, all of your courses are in the container Associate Degree in Special Education. That is where you should go to find your courses; and you need to read carefully. The links for the facilitators for the specialized courses are provided there in the courses. If you do not have the days and times for those synchronous sessions, kindly note the information below:
