COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Reading and Comprehension Course is a foundation course required for students who are to acquire upgraded qualifications, in order to facilitate a smooth transition into the Associate’s Degree Program at the Cyril Potter College of Education. The course introduces students to the basic ideas of reading explicitly and implicitly for prose and poetry. Students are then introduced to English language skills that targets the development of reading skills in the English Language.
1st Yr ADE English Module 1
The English Module One is a basic upgrading grammatical module designed to introduce students to fundamental structures of writing for FIRST YEAR ADE. This module is the first part of a THREE-YEAR Associate Degree Program for candidates who have yet to fit the required criteria necessary at the Cyril Potter College of Education. The aim of this module is to prepare participants for the Reading and Comprehension Course. The targeted content should equip students with grammatical regulations.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Know the parts of speech and understand the function of words.
2. Comprehend and use tense forms appropriately.
3. Recognise sentence types, differentiate factual statements from fragments.
4. Construct simple, compound, and complex sentences.
It is expected that each candidate do their due diligence in order to fulfil their academic potential!
